The Boy Scouts of America provides bunches and bunches of FREE training for parents and leaders. The BSA believes it is equally important for parents to take the same training as the leaders. This helps improve the program for our children.
As of April 4, 2011, ALL adults who are planning to attend a licensed BSA camp (even as a volunteer) must take the classroom version of Youth Protection Training. See http://www.bsacac.org/my_files/documents/2012_ypt_policy_3-27-12_final.pdf for more information.
In order to be considered “trained,” leaders must take Youth Protection Training, This is Scouting, and whichever Leader Specific training applies to their current Scouting position. Most of the courses are available online at http://myscouting.org.
